The SMP Solutions 'One Step Beyond' Online Career Transition Programme came at an important time, as I needed to gain a greater focus in my quest to identify the next opportunity, following redundancy.

The main benefits are that the programme has provided a structured approach to reviewing my skills, talents, attributes and values. In addition, it has highlighted the many successes that I have had and the significant contribution that I have made and can make to the workplace and, in fact, my family.

The process of discovery, when reflecting on one's capabilities and speaking to family and friends, has underpinned my confidence and provided the energy for a more constructive point of view.

Fortunately, I am very much a self-starter, highly-motivated and driven, which meant I was determined to work through the course in a detailed manner, as it was important for me to reflect on my qualities; warts and all. For someone who is not used to working independently, though, the programme might seem daunting. However, by breaking it down into bite size chunks and working through the activities at your own pace the benefits of self-discovery, through honest reflection, will be gained.

Having worked through the programme and got a much better understanding of what is important to me in a future job and realised how much I do have to offer, this has definitely boosted my confidence and I have subsequently managed to quickly secure two job interviews! 

Having the option of remote coaching support from SMP Solutions, as an independent third party who has access to the output from my Career Transition Programme will be tremendously useful. I am looking forward to using this support to further help my job quest; determine which the best job is for me and hone my interview skills to be successful.
